Roger Rinderknecht broke his arm during a training session at his local BMX course. The number 3 of the current UCI Mountain Bike 4X World Cup ranking is now prevented from riding for about six weeks. On Tuesday, August 11th, Roger performed his daily training at his nearby BMX track in Winterthur: "In my last run of the day, I overshot the first double at the pro-section and pedaled as hard as I could to make it over the next double, which is the biggest of the course. At top speed I slipped out of the click pedal right before the big double. I managed to jump, but got a quite bad spin and crashed hard into the landing". The left upper arm broke immediately. Roger got surgery the next day: a marrow nail was implemented and fixed with four screws. Roger will keep the nail for the next season and get rid of it at the beginning of the winter break 2010. According to the doctors, there will be no physical restraints because of the nail and Roger will be back at 100 percent of his riding performance soon. The Swiss GT team rider is already on the best way. He did fine at his first physiotherapy session and he can't wait to be back on his bike soon. But first of all he is looking forward to come back home to his family.
